Stretching over 30,000 acres, the Bonneville Salt Flats creates the worlds longest and most awesome straight away for going fast. Really fast. During Bonneville Speed Week 2008 Danny Thompson, son of Mickey Thompson, was able to get his 2008 Mustang up to a 246.78 mph. The even attracts hundreds of people every year that are eager to get their automobiles over the 200 mph mark.

It’s not every day you see a 1000 horsepower American made car go up for sale on eBay. This 2005 Ford GT sports a GT1000 Twin Turbo system which produces a cool 1000HP/865TQ while hitting a mind boggling top speed of 235.4 MPH to make it the fastest Ford GT every built. The starting bid is $229,500 dollars, which is just slightly outside of my budget for a car. It’s still better than the Bugatti Veyron though, which will set you back at least 6 times that amount.

How bad of a shape is Ford in? It seems bad enough that they felt the need to pull over 4,000 employees from their desks at sites near the Dearborn headquarters and onto a test track for a few hours of driving and learning about how Ford hopes to set its vehicles apart from other automakers.

The Ford Mustang, America’s best-selling sports car for 22 years, has been honored with the 2008 Motorist Choice Award in the Sporty Car segment by car buying information Web site IntelliChoice.com and automotive consulting firm AutoPacific. The Motorist Choice Awards were designed to recognize vehicles that appeal to both the heart and head. The awards are calculated by combining IntelliChoice.com’s cost of ownership data with AutoPacific’s owner satisfaction information culled from more than 40,000 new car and truck buyers.

Death Race, which is set to come out in theaters August 22, looks to be yet another great movie starring Jason Statham and not only because it features a wild 2006 Mustang GT that has been given the name Frankenstein's Monster. The plot has Statham, an ex-con, fighting for his life after the warden forces him to compete in our post-industrial world's most popular sport, a car race in which inmates must brutalize and kill one another on the road to victory. Good news for members of Shelby American Automobile Club and Shelby Mustang fans every where. According to SAAC.com, the legal battle between SAAC and Carroll Shelby has been resolved with both sides coming to an agreement that, according to SAAC, will allow a "return to the normal life of having fun and enjoying the people and the cars of our hobby". Carroll Shelby and designer/artist Bill Neale are celebrating the rebirth of the famous Terlingua Racing Team with the first annual "Shelby Bullrun Challenge" in West Texas on Sept. 25-28, 2008. The event includes a combination of driving events and parties for celebrities and enthusiasts that will rival the ones that gave rise to the Terlingua legend 40 years ago.
